The Aging Advisory Council needs YOU!
Boulder County is seeking volunteers who would like to voice their opinions and help guide decisions on matters ranging from resource conservation to community and work programs. The county is recruiting residents to serve on several advisory boards and commissions, including the Aging Advisory Council. These boards provide recommendations to the Boulder County Commissioners and give residents the opportunity to have their voices heard within Boulder County government. The county, in turn, benefits from this citizen input. Apply today! What a party!
Along with our Aging Services Foundation, we hosted the 16th Annual Lavender Gala on Sunday Dec. 4 in Lafayette. 140 LGBT older adults and allies, plus two dozen staff and volunteers, attended this holiday celebration for an often-invisible community. Emcee Mrs. Eda Bagel kept the crowd laughing, and DJ Susie Pringle had nearly everyone dancing, either on their feet or in their chairs. Three youth from Public Health’s OASIS program greeted arriving guests, many whom exclaimed how nice it was to have young queer people in attendance too. Many thanks to the countless senior service providers who donated over 40 door prizes, and The Open Door Fund and the Daily Camera who sponsored this event.
