Upcoming Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan community meetings and forums

The Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan is used by the City of Boulder and Boulder County to guide long-range planning, the review of development proposals and other activities that shape the built and natural environments in the Boulder Valley. The plan helps the community create and preserve a sustainable future for the Boulder Valley and a high quality of life.

Nov. 30 Future Choices BVCP Forum

Date: Wednesday, Nov. 30
Time: 6 to 8 p.m.
Location: First Presbyterian Church, Oerter Hall, 1820 15th St., Boulder

The purpose of the Future Choices Forums meetings is to involve community members in discussions around key topics like housing affordability and diversity, jobs: housing balance, non-residential growth, design choices and neighborhood walkability. At the meetings people will be asked to examine land use options, analysis and trade-offs and policy options on key topics, discuss questions in small groups and work to identify common ground on proposed changes to the plan in order to provide specific feedback to decision-makers.

Similar to the early local listening sessions, the primary focus will be on the comprehensive plan with opportunities for facilitated small group discussions and may provide opportunities to share information about other city projects in an open house. Plan to attend the one near where you live - this one will focus on Central Boulder - but each of the meetings will provide the same citywide information.

Dec. 5 Community Meeting to focus on CU South property and potential Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan land use designation changes

Date: Monday, Dec. 5
Time: 6 to 8 p.m.
Location: Sustainability, Energy, and Environment Complex (SEEC) auditorium, room C120, CU Boulder Research Park, 4001 Discovery Dr., Boulder

On Monday, Dec. 5, the City of Boulder, Boulder County and University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) will host a meeting for community members interested in the ongoing analysis of the “CU Boulder South” property, as part of the Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan (BVCP) update. The event is from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Sustainability, Energy, and Environment Complex (SEEC) auditorium, room C120, at CU Boulder’s Research Park, 4001 Discovery Drive. Free parking is available at the building.

The city and CU Boulder will provide additional information about how CU Boulder might plan for the future of the site. Meeting attendees will then have an opportunity to discuss key issues and interests associated with the CU Boulder South property in small group sessions. Input gathered during this meeting will help inform city and university personnel on key considerations for the property’s future uses including for floodwater mitigation, habitat preservation, trail connectivity, building potential and other considerations.

Located in unincorporated Boulder County, CU Boulder South is a 308-acre parcel owned by CU Boulder that is immediately south of the RTD Table Mesa Park-n-Ride. The city, with its consultants, has concluded an ecological study and a transportation access analysis as part of an overall suitability analysis for the property to help inform potential land use changes as part of the BVCP. These reports are available online.
CU Boulder has no immediate plans to develop or sell the property. As part of the BVCP, changes to the land use designations on the site are being evaluated. The land use designations provide guidance for future annexation of the site into the city and the areas of the site appropriate for preservation and for development.

More information about the project can be found online at www.bouldercolorado.gov/bvcp/cu-south.
