Boulder County Assessor Jerry Roberts
to retire in January 2017
State law gives County Commissioners the role of filling the vacancy by appointment
(Boulder County, Colo.) -- After 36 years** of public service to Boulder County, including nine years as the Boulder County Assessor, Jerry Roberts has announced his retirement effective Jan. 25, 2017.
“As a former Boulder County Assessor myself, and on behalf of my colleagues on the Board of County Commissioners, I want to thank Jerry for his many years of outstanding service to Boulder County,” said County Commissioner Cindy Domenico. “Being County Assessor is a tireless job, and through all the years we’ve worked together, Jerry has always conducted his work and led his office in the most professional, fair, and honest manner. We will miss him greatly in his role as County Assessor and we wish him all the best in his retirement.”
The Assessor’s job is to analyze all pertinent information regarding real and business personal property and to reconcile it into an accurate, fair estimate of value. The Boulder County Assessor’s Office establishes values every two years for more than 120,000 properties worth nearly $50 billion in market value. Colorado law grants power to the Board of County Commissioners to appoint his successor until an election can be held. The Boulder County Commissioners will meet in a timely manner to determine the next steps for appointing a new Boulder County Assessor.
