Comprehensive Plan Open Space Element update to be tabled to Oct. 19 Planning Commission meeting

Land Use and Parks and Open Space staff planned to present for adoption a final version of the Boulder County Comprehensive Plan Open Space Element update at the September 21 Planning Commission meeting. Staff has elected to recommend tabling this item to the October Planning Commission agenda. Tabling this item to the October agenda will provide staff the time necessary to fully address referral comments, and to simultaneously put forth a draft scenic roadway corridor map.

On August 24, staff circulated a referral packet to other Boulder County departments, as well as planning and open space offices in municipalities across the county. The specified due date for comments was September 7. Staff received comments from the City of Boulder, the Town of Lyons, and the Boulder County Transportation Department. Key comments were received after the due date, with the most recent comments received on September 12. These recent comments warrant communications across county staff departments. It was not possible to schedule the necessary discussions and implement follow up revisions in time for the September 21 Planning Commission staff report deadline. In addition, GIS staff does not have the capacity to complete proposed scenic roadway corridor mapping in time for the September 21 Planning Commission staff report deadlines. Thus, staff has elected to table the Open Space Element Update hearing to the October agenda.

Staff requests that the Planning Commission table Docket BCCP-15-0001: Boulder County Comprehensive Plan Open Space Element Update to the October 19, 2016 Planning Commission meeting.
