Possible amendments to floodplain regulations in Land Use Code to be discussed June 15

The Boulder County Planning Commission will hold a public meeting to discuss possible amendments to floodplain regulations in the Boulder County Land Use Code.

The approximate start time is 3 p.m. Please be aware that this docket item may begin sooner or later, depending on the timing of the items before it.

The purpose of the proposed amendments would be to:

  • Create a transparent public process to make possible the incorporation of best available data for regulatory use in anticipation of future FEMA floodplain remapping;
  • Revise language in the floodplain regulations regarding non-conforming structures and uses to be consistent with the rest of the Code;
  • Revise language regarding appeals and variances to decisions made under the floodplain regulations to be consistent with the rest of the Code; and
  • Update related provisions in the Code in order to best protect the health, safety, and welfare of Boulder County residents in the event of future flood events.


No changes to the current floodplain maps which define the floodplain overlay district will occur as part of this regulatory update.
