Celebrate Autumn Heritage Day and Enjoy a Vintage Baseball Game at the Walker Ranch Homestead
Come up to the Walker Ranch Homestead on Sunday, September 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and see what autumn was like on a ranch in the 1880s.
Costumed volunteers demonstrate how to get a ranch ready for winter. Visitors can participate in activities such as churning butter, doing laundry with a washboard and wringer, and learn about food preservation for the upcoming cold weather.
They can visit the blacksmith as he makes hinges, nails, and other hardware needed around the ranch. There will also be guided tours of the homestead, school sessions throughout the day, calf-roping, and wood cutting.
Don’t miss the annual vintage “base ball” game, a favorite activity to watch year after year. Once again, the Walker Ranch Boys take on the Central City Stars, a team from the Vintage Base Ball Association. The game starts at noon.
Please Note:
Dogs and bicycles are not permitted on the ranch site. No food is available at this event, but visitors are invited to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at nearby Walker Ranch Open Space picnic sites.
The event closes at 3:00pm sharp, so arrive in plenty of time to enjoy the activities.
