The second in a series of 11 webinars focusing on recharge readiness will take place on Thursday, September 10, at 11 a.m. “Expanding Recharge and Preparing for Wet Weather: ‘Rapid’ Groundwater Recharge Accounting Tool Options” will feature two new DWR technical memoranda; the first introduces RapidGRAT, the second presents a practical field-ranking framework developed for Yolo County. Managed aquifer recharge (MAR) can do more than replenish groundwater. A new brochure created by DWR explores how thoughtfully designed recharge projects can also support flood risk reduction, ecosystem enhancement, water quality, climate resilience, working lands, and drought preparedness. It also highlights practical planning considerations, real-world examples, and strategies for maximizing the multiple benefits of recharge projects across California. The new brochure, Looking Beyond Local Water Supply: Multi-benefit Recharge Projects for Ecosystem Enhancement, is available on the Flood-MAR website.

Registration is open for the 2026 California Economic Summit 2026 California Economic Summit, to be held in Long Beach, Tuesday through Thursday, October 13 to 15. This year’s theme is “Shared Investment, Shared Prosperity.” Day one offers a firsthand look at the regional economy, from touring the Port of Long Beach and discussing its work toward a 90% emissions reduction goal to visiting the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator's La Kretz Innovation Campus. Days two and three include keynotes and breakout tracks on California Forward’s framework of Climate-Smart Economy, Energy and Industrial (R)evolution, Regions-Up, and Resilience, including an opening keynote from Gina Schaefer of Ace Hardware Corporation on employee ownership.

The inaugural Resilient California Summit will take place in Sacramento from Tuesday through Thursday, October 20 to 22. This three-day summit will bring together practitioners from local and State government, Tribal partners, community-based organizations, utilities, private firms, and academia to share best practices and critical insights shaping California’s climate science, policy, and action. Programming will highlight new research from California’s Fifth Climate Change Assessment, showcase innovative resilience projects, and explore long-term adaptation goals. Registration is open now.
