Pear Fair Celebrates Delta Crop
 People from Courtland, the Delta, and beyond came together July 26 to celebrate the 52nd Pear Fair. The day was filled with a variety of pear-themed food and drinks, live music, dancing, a duck calling contest, a parade, the crowning of the Pear Fair Queen and King, and vendors selling pear-themed and other crafts.
Hood Unveils New Mural - Part of Envisioned Delta Mural Trail

Hood celebrated a vibrant new mural on July 17. The mural by Daniel Pedersen of Wide Open Walls honors the history of Hood, and it is envisioned as the first in a Delta Mural Trail.

Yolo County Proclaims Golden Mussel Emergency
The Yolo County Board of Supervisors proclaimed a local emergency in response to the spread of invasive golden mussels in waterways connected to the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.
The proclamation strengthens the county’s ability to coordinate with local, regional, state, and federal partners; pursue funding and technical assistance; and support long-term efforts to protect water infrastructure, agricultural water deliveries, flood-control facilities, native ecosystems, and the regional economy.
Delta Protection Commission Appoints Clay Merrill to DPAC
Clay Merrill was appointed to the Delta Protection Advisory Committee's Utilities-Related Infrastructure seat on July 16 by the Delta Protection Commission.
Merrill serves as the Local Government Affairs Representative for PG&E covering Yolo and Solano Counties. In his work, he has collaborated with the City of Rio Vista on energy challenges, issues, and solutions. He has also worked to improve electric reliability and sustainability in the Delta for Rio Vista and the other surrounding communities.
Major Closures Planned for SR-4 in August

Upcoming Highway 4 closures:
Through July 31: Overnight, intermittent one-way traffic control from SR-99 to the San Joaquin/Stanislaus County line for pavement work.
Sunday, Aug. 9: 12-hour full highway closure from Roberts Road to Old River Bridge scheduled 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
Aug. 14-17: 55-hour full highway closure from Roberts Road to Old River Bridge from 10 p.m. Friday Aug. 14 to 5 a.m. Monday Aug. 17.
Through November: Long-term, 24-hour, one-way traffic control will be implemented on SR-4 at the Old River Bridge (San Joaquin/Contra Costa County line) for construction.
Delta Reform Act, 15 Years Later
The state's three Delta agencies today released “15 Years of Progress – Rising to the Challenge of the Delta Reform Act.”
The report captures key accomplishments and efforts to advance the Legislature’s vision for a more resilient Delta. Achievements include designation of California’s first National Heritage Area, the adoption of the first-ever Delta Plan, and investment of millions of dollars in science and ecosystem restoration.
“The rich culture and heritage of the Delta serve as the backbone of the region,” said Delta Protection Commission Executive Director Amanda Bohl. “The Delta Reform Act acknowledges the importance of this heritage, and of working together to protect the cultural, recreational, natural resource, and agricultural values of the Delta as an evolving place.”

DCP Revised Certification of Consistency Submitted
DWR submitted its Delta Conveyance Project Revised Certification of Consistency with the Delta Plan on Remanded Items on July 24.
If the Certification is appealed, an appeal hearing will be held by the Council followed by the issuance of a determination on the appeal.

Delta Conveyance Project Community Benefits Program AAPI Outreach Sessions
Information sessions have been scheduled to reach out to the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in the Delta about the Community Benefits Program of the Delta Conveyance Project. Sessions will be held July 29 on Zoom, Aug. 12 on Zoom, and Aug. 15 in Sacramento. Register for sessions.
J-Mack Ferry Closed through Aug. 21
Suspension of service for the J-Mack Ferry has been extended to 12:01 p.m. Aug. 21, according to the Caltrans QuickMap app. View the original announcement.
Harmful Algal Blooms Update
 As of Monday, July 27, these are the locations of harmful algal bloom advisories in the Delta.
For all areas with advisories, stay away from algae and scum in the water. Do NOT let pets go in the water, drink the water, or eat scum on the shore. Keep children away from algae. Do not eat shellfish from this waterbody.
