Notification and Request for Input: Recovery Planning for San Bernardino Kangaroo Rat Under the California Endangered Species Act
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is initiating recovery planning for San Bernardino kangaroo rat (Dipodomys merriami parvus), which is listed as endangered under the California Endangered Species Act (CESA; Fish & G. Code, §2079.1). This process is intended to guide the development of an effective and actionable recovery plan for San Bernardino kangaroo rat. We are soliciting feedback on recovery planning for the species.
Recovery planning for San Bernardino kangaroo rat will follow CDFW’s Guidelines for Recovery Planning (pdf). Once a draft recovery plan is developed, we will solicit public comment, and a copy of the draft plan will be made available on CDFW's CESA Recovery Planning webpage.
CDFW requests any information relevant to recovery planning for San Bernardino kangaroo rat. To submit information or if you have any questions regarding this notification, the CDFW’s San Bernardino kangaroo rat recovery plan, or would like to receive an update on the progress of this species’ recovery process, please contact Austin Roy, CESA Recovery Coordinator, Wildlife Branch at CESARecovery@wildlife.ca.gov.
