Upcoming events in the Delta include a First Day Hike at the Delta Meadows State Park Property o Jan. 1, an author event in Pittsburg Jan. 10, a Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area tour Jan. 18, and a Contra Costa County Historical Society commemoration of the Anza Expedition 250th Anniversary on Jan. 24.

Twitchell Island Levee Project Certification Filed
Reclamation District 1601 filed certification on Dec. 18 of the Twitchell Island Levee Improvement Project's consistency with the Delta Plan.
The public review and appeal period goes through Jan. 20.
Viaduct Design Theme Survey Results Announced
A Marine/Delta design received the most votes in a survey used by Caltrans to select the aesthetic theme for the I-5 Stockton Channel Viaduct Project.
Caltrans and its Community Aesthetics Advisory Committee identified three potential themes to represent the region: Agriculture, Nature/Wildlife and Marine/Delta.
The chosen concept will be incorporated within safety, maintenance, and budgetary constraints.

Social Science in the Delta: Efforts Take Shape
In 2020, a panel of social scientists from across the country provided a roadmap and motivation for increasing social science in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.

The Point Restaurant Closes
 The Point Restaurant in Rio Vista has closed, holding its final service on Dec. 28.
The owners announced the decision on Facebook, saying they couldn't reach an agreement on their new lease.

The 2026 schedule for the Delta Protection Commission and Delta Protection Advisory Committee is here. The schedule includes meeting packets as they become available and approved minutes.
Jan. 8: Delta Protection Commission meets at 5 p.m. in Sacramento. The agenda is posted here.
Jan. 22-23: Delta Stewardship Council meets. The agenda will be posted here at least 10 days in advance.
Jan. 28: Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Conservancy meets at 9 a.m. The agenda will be posted here at least 10 days in advance.
Jan. 28-30: State Water Resources Control Board meets to consider draft updates to the Water Quality Control Plan for the San Francisco Bay/Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Watershed. The notice is posted here (PDF).
Feb. 10: Delta Protection Advisory Committee meets. The agenda will be posted here at least 10 days in advance.
March 25: Delta NHA Advisory Committee meets. The agenda will be posted here at least 10 days in advance.

Caution advisory: Stay away from algae and scum in the water. Do NOT let pets go in the water, drink the water, or eat scum on the shore. Keep Children away from algae. Do not eat shellfish from this waterbody.
