Western Joshua Tree Conservation Plan Public Meeting
Please join us for a virtual public meeting on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 (3:00 PM- 4:30 PM). The Western Joshua Tree Conservation Plan (Conservation Plan) was approved by the Fish and Game Commission on August 13, 2025, and can be read using the following links:
Volume 1 - https://nrm.dfg.ca.gov/FileHandler.ashx?DocumentID=232533&inline
Volume 2 - https://nrm.dfg.ca.gov/FileHandler.ashx?DocumentID=227461&inline
During this meeting CDFW will go over the Conservation Plan requirements as outlined by the Western Joshua Tree Conservation Act, the Conservation Plan timeline for 2026, and an open public forum will be held at the end of the meeting.
As a reminder, the Conservation Plan provides a comprehensive set of management actions necessary to conserve the western Joshua tree in California, but the document does not create new statutory or regulatory mandates and does not create project requirements. The Department is seeking comments and new information that can be added to the Conservation Plan to strengthen management actions for the conservation of the species. During the open public forum period CDFW will not answer project-specific questions.
