Western Joshua Tree Conservation Act Fee Regulations Change-
Informational Public Forum
Please join us for a virtual meeting with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. The purpose of this forum is to share information about CDFW's regulatory update to mitigation fees outlined in the Western Joshua Tree Conservation Act. Fish and Game Code section 1927.8(b) requires CDFW to adjust the fees by December 31, 2026, and every three years thereafter, as necessary to ensure the conservation of western Joshua tree.
During the forum CDFW will share the potential approaches, factors contributing to analysis of fees needed to conserve the species, and the fee regulation package process and timeline for 2026. Early consultation and collaboration with California Native American Tribes and the public are critical components of initiating this regulatory change and we welcome your input and participation.
Questions or comments can be submitted at any time before the meeting by emailing WJTRegulations@wildlife.ca.gov.
