Once fully operational by the end of this year, the Antioch Brackish Water Desalination Plant will supply up to 40 percent of drinking water for 112,000 people.
Sutter Slough Bridge: Full Closures and Lane Closures Through Oct. 10
A contractor is working to repair damage to the bridge over Sutter Slough on South River Road/Sutter Slough Bridge Road caused by a truck collision last year.
The bridge will be fully closed through Sept. 26, and there will be lane closures with alternating traffic Sept. 29-Oct. 3 and Oct. 6-10. The bridge will be open on weekends. Weather may change the schedule.
Travelers should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during closures. Detour signage is in place, and local access to properties and businesses within the closed section will be maintained.
DPC Names Interim Executive Director
The Delta Protection Commission last week named Holly Heyser Interim Executive Director.
Heyser replaces Dan Ray, who came out of retirement in February to lead the DPC staff during the Commission's search for a permanent executive director.
Heyser, currently the DPC's information officer, will take the helm on Oct. 1 and serve until the permanent executive director comes on board, which is expected in late October.

Caterpillar Exhibit at the Haggin
Delta history buffs can enjoy "Caterpillar: Celebrating 100 Years" through Nov. 2 at the Haggin Museum in Stockton.
The exhibit will give viewers insight into the extraordinary contributions of Stockton’s own Benjamin Holt and the Holt Manufacturing Company. It coincides with the company's centennial.
The Caterpillar's track-laying system was an invention designed to help farmers with heavy equipment that would otherwise sink into the Delta's soft peat soils.
