NEWS
Sept. 21-27 is Delta Week!
Delta Week was created in 2022 with state Senate Concurrent Resolution 119 to call on all Californians “to acknowledge the high value of the Delta and the multiple benefits of a healthy Delta region.”
You can kick off Delta Week one day early by participating a Delta Waterway Cleanup on Sept. 20 - many can be found on the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Conservancy's website. They're part of Coastal Cleanup Day.
There is a wide variety of events coming up in the Delta over the next few weeks - scroll down or click here to see the whole listing.
Or if you feel like celebrating the Delta from your easy chair, we've got three suggestions from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta National Heritage Area:
- A Delta reading list. The number of titles - fiction and nonfiction - is 55 and growing.
- A new Delta NHA Fact Sheet (PDF). This two-pager is a concise explanation of the NHA, including its wonders by the numbers and a map showing what exactly is in the NHA.
- The Delta Heritage Courier. The latest issue of the NHA's bimonthly newsletter came out last week and is loaded with Delta character. You won't want to miss the stories about "Prohibition Eggs," the birthplace of the Martini, and the long-lost collection of a post card photographer, which you can now find at a Delta museum.
