Next Lunch-MAR: Overview of Groundwater Accounting Platform
The next Lunch-MAR meeting will be in collaboration with the California Water Data Consortium’s Data for Lunch Series. Hannah Ake will provide an overview of the Groundwater Accounting Platform, an open-source tool that helps California water managers, landowners, and water users track water budgets and usage more easily in near real-time. This tool has been expanded to provide additional features and functionalities to help more groundwater agencies and growers track water use allocations under the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act. State budget Includes wildfire and forest resilience line items
On June 27, Governor Newsom signed the $325 billion Budget Act of 2025. It is expected that negotiations on cap and trade and the majority of wildfire and forest resilience line items will continue into the summer with budget trailer bills voted on before the close of the legislative session on September 12. Specific natural resources-related items of the budget are summarized in an article on the California Wildlife and Forest Resilience Task Force website.

CA Wildfire & Forest Resilience Task Force meeting, Sept. 4 & 5
The next meeting of the California Wildfire and Forest Resilience Task Force (Task Force) will be on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 4 and 5, in Redlands. The agenda will highlight the 2025 Action Plan and issues of regional importance. The meeting will open with a Resource Fair to showcase local organizations at work in the region. On Sept. 5, Task Force partners will host field tours offering opportunities to better understand the critical landscape health and community wildfire resilience work underway in the Inland Empire and the greater Southern California region. Registration is required for in-person attendance. Virtual attendance is also available. Registration deadline is Sunday, August 31.
