Colorado River 2024 report calls for “augmentation” projects
The 2024 Colorado River Water Leaders cohort completed its seven-month program with policy recommendations involving ”augmentation” (projects that increase the availability and supply of water) as the Colorado River Basin grows hotter and drier. The 20-page report, published by the Water Education Foundation, provides a roadmap to promote a purposeful, continuing dialogue around the deployment of water augmentation projects, such as seawater and brackish desalination, water recycling, and cloud seeding. The report also outlines ways to reduce barriers to implementation through strategies that enable consensus around goals, information sharing, and funding support.

San Joaquin Water Summit to be held in Madera, Dec. 7
The Water Education for Latino Leaders will host the San Joaquin Water Summit in Madera on Saturday, Dec. 7. The workshop is free to all attendees and will center on discussions about water challenges facing the San Joaquin Valley. Along with the public, elected officials are encouraged to attend to deepen their understanding of regional water challenges and advocate for sustainable solutions.
