Isleton Bridge Scheduled for Daily Closures
Starting today, the Isleton bridge on State Route 160 near the city of Isleton will be closed to all motorists during daytime hours into the early evening. The closures are to allow ongoing parts replacements, mechanical and electrical control system upgrades.
River Road and the Walnut Grove Bridge will be the alternate route.
Closures will take place 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays through June 30, 2025. No work is scheduled Nov. 27-Dec. 1 due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Weather conditions could delay or cancel scheduled work on other days.
Prospect Island Habitat Restoration Project Launched
The Bureau of Reclamation and California Department of Water Resources broke ground Nov. 13 on the Prospect Island Tidal Habitat Restoration Project.
The project is located on 1,600 acres in Solano County. When completed, it will help endangered species such as Delta smelt and Chinook salmon while supporting the long-term operations of the federal Central Valley Project and State Water Project.
Prospect Island will breach levees at two locations to return tidal-influenced flows to the project site. The project is expected to be completed in 2026.

New Caltrans District 10 Director Announced
Caltrans announced last week that Grace B. Magsayo is the new Caltrans District 10 Director in Stockton. She has been serving as acting director since January.
Magsayo oversees more than 3,500 lane miles of highways in eight counties, including San Joaquin.
During her 26-year career with Caltrans, she has worked as a Design Manager, Project Manager, and most recently as the Deputy District Director for Program, Project, and Asset Management.

More than 80 Delta heritage professionals and aficionados gathered Friday at the Antioch Historical Society Museum for a day of storytelling and inspiration at the 6th Delta Heritage Forum, an event organized by the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta National Heritage Area and the Delta Protection Commission. Request for Proposals: NHA Branding and Marketing Plan
The Delta Protection Commission will accept proposals through Dec. 4 for creating a tourism, branding and marketing plan for the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta National Heritage Area.
The NHA, operated by the Delta Protection Commission, is California's first and only National Heritage Area.

USFWS Seeking Small Craft Operator, Based in Lodi
This Lodi-based small craft operator will facilitate biological sampling of the San Francisco Estuary by:
- Operating, navigating, casting off and docking, and fueling inboard, outboard and inboard/outboard powered vessels. This can include prop boats and jet boats 3 to 12 meters long.
- Maintaining, servicing, tracking and performing minor repairs on all vessels and attached or associated equipment. This includes sampling gear, vessels, marine diesel and gasoline engines, drive systems and boat trailers.
- Adhering to safety protocols and training vessel operators and other personnel.
The salary is $32.21-$37.54 per hour. The application deadline is Dec. 2.
Rebates for Heat Pumps Available
Californians who meet income qualifications may apply for rebates of up to $8,000 on the installation of energy-saving heat pump units in their homes.
In addition to saving money on energy bills and increasing energy efficiency, the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEEHRA) aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve indoor air quality.

Work for the Delta Protection Commission - Application Deadline on Nov. 22
Full-time Senior Environmental Planner/Delta National Heritage Area: Work entails developing maps and GIS databases, stakeholder outreach, and developing/managing partnership relationships with other agencies, nonprofits, organizations, and individuals. Pay range is $8,425-$10,469/month. Download the duty statement here (PDF).

Nominate a Delta Leader: Nov. 22 Deadline
Nominations and applications are being accepted for the 2025 Delta Leadership Program. The deadline is Nov. 22.
The program, operated by the Delta Protection Commission and Delta Leadership Foundation, consists of a series of intensive seminars held January through April. Participants also complete team projects to benefit the Delta.
The program targets potential or emerging leaders in the Delta from all walks of life – agriculture, law enforcement, local government, non-profit organizations, local business, and the tourism and hospitality sectors, among others.

Marine Traffic Bridge Closures in SJ County: Through Jan. 31
San Joaquin County movable-span bridges will be temporarily closed to marine traffic through Jan. 31. The bridges will be open to vehicles, but may be reduced to one lane of travel at times.
Affected bridges are the Eight Mile Road Bridge at Honker Cut Canal, the Bacon Island Road Bridge at Middle River, and the Tracy Boulevard Bridge at the Grant Line Canal.

Danger advisories: Contra Loma Reservoir, Big Break Regional Shoreline Boat Launch. Advice: STAY OUT OF THE WATER. Do not touch scum in the water or shore. Do NOT let pets go in the water, drink the water, or eat scum on the shore. Do not eat shellfish from this waterbody.
Visual observation advisories: West Canal at Clifton Court Intake, Old River at Clifton Court Intake, Grant Line Canal near Old River, Old River downstream of the ORT Barrier. Advice: Stay away from algae and scum in the water. Do NOT let pets go in the water, drink the water, or eat scum on the shore. Keep Children away from algae. Do not eat shellfish from this waterbody.
