Lunch-MAR to feature aquifers and ecosystem services
Aquifers as natural infrastructure and their ecosystem services will be the focus at next week’s Flood-Managed Aquifer Recharge (Flood-MAR) Program's lunchtime webinar. Kate Scow and Radomir Schmidt from UC Davis will be the featured speakers. The Lunch-MAR webinar will be Wednesday, Nov. 6.
Californians encouraged to get ready for flood season
As part of Flood Preparedness Week, DWR is encouraging all Californians to prepare for flood season. Even after one of the hottest summers on record, a flood danger can exist. A warmer atmosphere can hold more moisture and increase the power of atmospheric river storms. The Governor’s Office of Emergency Services has a webpage to help determine the flood risk in areas throughout the state. Flood preparation Information is available on the ready.gov website.

State Water Board posts urban water use reporting forms
DWR has posted the State Water Resources Control Board’s (State Water Board's) urban water use objective reporting form and guidance on the Water Use Efficiency Data (WUEdata) portal. Urban retail water suppliers must submit annual reports on their urban water use objective; actual water use; and implementation of commercial, industrial, and institutional performance measures. The form and guidance, recently approved by the Office of Administrative Law, was made available under the Making Conservation a Way of Life regulation.
Workshop set for draft amendment to State water funds
Draft documents with proposed amendments to the policy for implementing the Clean Water State Revolving Fund and the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund have been released by the State Water Board. The demand for funding has increased in recent years, leading to proposed changes in the priority scoring criteria to better manage the demand. A workshop providing an overview of the proposed amendments will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6, in Sacramento.
Webinar connecting local water projects to government funding
Online conference on advancing sustainable infrastructure
Architecture, engineering, and construction professionals are invited to attend the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure Annual Conference. This year it will be held in a virtual format on Nov. 6 and 7. The presentations will provide insights and strategies to advance sustainable infrastructure. There will also be emphasis on bridging the gap between sustainability goals and tangible project outcomes.
Sierra conservation conference begins next week
Under the theme of “Strengthening Conservation Impact through Partnership,” the Sierra Nevada Alliance Conservation Conference will be Nov. 7 and 8, in South Lake Tahoe. The conference is a venue to engage in environmental conversations regarding the Sierra and to promote important initiatives. The keynote speaker will be California Natural Resources Agency’s Deputy Secretary of Biodiversity and Habitat Meghan Hertel.
