New tools that track the state’s wildfire and landscape resilience progress were introduced at a recent meeting of the California Wildfire and Forest Resilience Task Force. The Interagency Treatment Dashboard provides a hub that shows where treatments, such as prescribed fires, mechanical thinning, and tree planting, have been completed. CAL FIRE released the Fuel Treatment Effectiveness Dashboard, which shows how wildfire prevention projects are helping protect communities and landscapes when wildfire strikes.

A general information session on the California Forest Conservation Plan will be hosted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on Tuesday, Oct. 29. This plan will accelerate forest fuels reduction project compliance, balance project activities with the needs of wildlife, and apply consistent wildlife conservation measures across public and private lands. The online session will include an overview of the plan and an explanation of how the plan will be developed.

The first phase of the California Pesticide Electronic Submission Tracking (CalPEST) system has been launched by the California Department of Pesticide Regulations. CalPEST is an online resource that reduces the time to process registration actions, improves transparency in the evaluation and registration process, and helps approve safer alternatives to create more sustainable pest management in California.
