State groundwater conditions update released by DWR

California’s Groundwater Conditions: Semi-Annual Update describes the accomplishments made toward a sustainable groundwater future under the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act. It also covers the challenges posed by climate extremes. The report’s findings show that in Water Year 2024, groundwater levels continued to stabilize. But it will likely require several more wet years, along with efforts to increase groundwater recharge and reduce pumping, to recover from the most recent droughts and decades of overpumping.
