Delta Week is underway, highlighting the importance of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to all Californians. Delta Week runs through Saturday, Sept. 28, but there are more events in the coming months. The Delta Science Tracker webinar will be Tuesday, Oct. 8, and the Delta Heritage Forum will be held on Friday, Nov. 15.

Tribal access to be discussed during today's webinar
This afternoon, Sept. 25, the California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) will host a webinar on developing strategies for advancing Tribal access, co-management, and ancestral land return. Today’s webinar will build on the Aug. 27 CNRA webinar, “Righting Historical Wrongs: Truth, Healing, and Tribal Stewardship.”

Western Water article: First 10 years of SGMA progress
California’s progress during the 10 years since the implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) is outlined in a new article from Western Water. Established in 2014, SGMA marked the beginning of groundwater regulation in California. The article looks at the work that has been done, and the challenges that remain, in meeting the SGMA goals.
The basics of in-lieu recharge explained in new video
The Regional Water Authority has released a new video that explains in-lieu recharge, a process that utilizes excess river and lake water to replenish groundwater resources. In-lieu recharge has been used in the Sacramento region for more than 20 years to help preserve groundwater for future use and to increase supplies within aquifers.
30x30 partnership summit to include film festival, field trips
California’s 30x30 Partnership 2024 Summit will be Oct. 2–4, in Sacramento. The agenda includes a series of films presented in partnership with the Wild and Scenic Film Festival On Tour, and some field trip options on the final day. An executive order signed in 2020 established 30x30 as a state goal to conserve 30% of California’s lands and coastal waters by 2030.

Northern California water tour scheduled next month
The Water Education Foundation will be offering a Northern California water tour next month. The three-day tour runs Oct. 16–18 and will explore the Sacramento River and its tributaries. It will include stops at Shasta Lake and Oroville Dam.
