Update 2023 watershed resilience report released by DWR
DWR has released a supporting document for California Water Plan Update 2023 that describes the approach used to identify and recommend a preliminary set of water-related indicators. The Watershed Hub Resilience Indicators and Metrics report details processes that can be used to measure, track, and report on changing conditions throughout California’s watersheds. Indicators were evaluated for relevance, practicality, geographic coverage, and applicability at the watershed scale.

California Biodiversity Day events get underway this Saturday
Saturday, Sept. 7, is California Biodiversity Day. It is a time to inspire discovery and connection to California’s biodiversity and to encourage actions to protect it. The California Biodiversity Day website has a list of more than 180 events running Sept. 7–15. They include bioblitzes, birding, art and culture events, virtual classrooms, restoration activities, and much more.

30x30 update to be presented by California Natural Resources Agency

The webinar, on Monday, Sept. 9, will cover the latest news, key milestones, and introduce leaders from key sectors that are driving transformational conservation outcomes.

Registration opens for this month's CWEMF annual meeting
Registration is open for the annual meeting of the California Water and Environmental Modeling Forum (CWEMF). This year it will be Sept. 23–25, in Folsom. The program will include a session on the first day celebrating CWEMF’s 30th anniversary. The full list of sessions is available in the draft meeting program.
New guidance document for water resilience assessment
A new guidance document for basin managers and planning authorities is available from the Pacific Institute, CEO Water Mandate, and BHP. The Water Resilience Assessment Framework offers actions and strategies, along with indicators and tools, to measure and monitor progress. Researchers, water professionals, and community groups may also find the framework valuable in developing better tools and best practices for building resilient water systems.

Riparian forest habitat and vegetation webinar set for Sept. 26
On Thursday, Sept. 26, the UC Cooperative Extension will host a special webinar on riparian forest habitat and vegetation management. The 90-minute webinar will include information on current regulations, mitigation strategies, and assistance for landowners. Registration is free.
New web tool available for Sacramento River Basin restoration
Sustainable Conservation has released the Restoration Permitting Roadmap. It is a web tool designed to help restoration practitioners in the Sacramento River Basin navigate the complex and time-consuming permitting process. This new resource aims to accelerate regional ecological restoration efforts so projects can move forward more efficiently while meeting essential environmental regulations.
