Watershed resilience companion document released for Update 2023
A supporting document for California Water Plan Update 2023 has been posted by DWR’s Watershed Resilience Program. California Watershed Resilience Assessment (previously known as DWR Climate Change Risk and Preparedness Assessment) presents the approach and findings of a statewide assessment of climate risk and resilience preparedness at the watershed scale. The report is available in the Supporting Documents section of the Update 2023 webpage.

The California Data Collaborative will be hosting a webinar, tomorrow, July 25, that will address the question: What is the data really telling us? The presentations will cover three approaches to uncovering data that supports short- and long-term water management planning. One approach is looking into how effective drought response conservation programs were and how customer demographics may have played a role.

Data assessment report released for blue carbon ecosystems
A new resource is available for work on developing models or inventories for blue carbon ecosystems. The California Ocean Protection Council and the California Air Resources Board have released a blue carbon ecosystem data and model assessment report. Blue carbon refers to carbon captured by ocean and coastal ecosystems. The report outlines definitions and frameworks used in California’s carbon inventories and carbon target modeling.

California Water Plan Update 2023 presents the issues, uncertainties, and vulnerabilities for water management in the state. It also provides the policies and authorizations needed for State, federal, Tribal, regional, and local partners to jointly implement the strategies and actions in Update 2023.
