Two-day event to discuss conservation on working lands
California Water Data Consortium tabs Robyn Grimm as new CEO
The California Water Data Consortium has chosen Robyn Grimm as its new chief executive officer. Most recently, Grimm served as a senior director with the Environmental Defense Fund. Her expertise in integrating technology with water management strategies is expected to enhance the Consortium’s initiatives to improve water resource sustainability. Grimm replaces Tara Moran who stepped down in June after four years as the consortium’s first president and chief executive officer.
Revised workshop schedule released for energy policy report
The California Energy Commission has released a revised workshop schedule for the 2024 Integrated Energy Policy Report Update. The report is used to develop energy policies that conserve resources, protect the environment, and ensure energy reliability. The revised schedule begins Tuesday, July 30, with a workshop on energy demand forecast methodology updates.
Offshore wind energy plan released by energy commission
A new strategic plan for developing offshore wind energy has been adopted by the California Energy Commission. The plan outlines strategies to deploy enough floating turbines off the California coast to power 25 million homes by 2045. This is seen as a major step toward the State’s goal of a 100 percent clean-energy future.

Bay-Delta conference to take on environmental challenges
“Cultivating Connections in a Dynamically Changing Environment” will be the theme of this year’s Bay-Delta Science Conference. The conference will recognize that, to meet the environmental challenges facing the Delta, there must be an intentional cultivation and connection of the knowledge that exists in the scientific community. The conference will run Sept. 30–Oct. 2, in Sacramento.

California Water Plan Update 2023’s Roadmap to Resilience, Objective 7 is: Provide Guidance and Support Continued Resources for Implementation of Actions Toward Water Resilience.
Developing statewide and watershed resilience requires local, State, and federal investments and unique approaches to sustainable funding. To align resources with the needs of California water management, the the objective has one recommendation:
- Provide Funding for Watershed Resilience Programs.
This recommendation has six actions to implement, including improving grant application requirements, providing State assistance for small community water systems, and supporting funding for California Water Plan data and analysis.
