Grant Takes Proposed Clarksburg Line Trail Extension to Next Steps
The Yolo-Delta Trail Coalition has received a $1.9 million grant to take the next steps on the Clarksburg Branch Line Extension. This is a trail project that would connect West Sacramento with Clarksburg as part of the Great California Delta Trail. The Delta Protection Commission is a member of the coalition, along with City of West Sacramento, Yolo County and the Yolo Transportation District.
Part of the grant covers working with key project partners like the Clarksburg Community Advisory Committee, agricultural and other property owners, tribal representatives, local businesses and community organizations, and residents through one-on-one interviews, workshops and other outreach.
“We’re eager to work with our partners to study the proposed extension of the Clarksburg Branch Line and to ensure Delta residents’ needs and concerns are addressed as the Great California Delta Trail grows,” said Bruce Blodgett, executive director of the Delta Protection Commission.
The Great California Delta Trail Master Plan (PDF) was approved by the Commission in 2022. The plan covers the Delta region, with the goal of linking the San Francisco Bay Trail System and planned Sacramento River Trails to the Delta and its shoreline in the five counties.
