Delta Leaders Welcomed into the Fold
The 2024 class of the Delta Leadership Program graduated last week and was welcomed by existing Delta leaders - many of whom are also program alumni - at a reception hosted by Bogle Family Vineyards in Clarksburg.
Participants shared a number of "ah ha!" moments in which they were profoundly influenced by both the program and each other.
Duck Days this Weekend
The Yolo Basin Foundation's California Duck Days this Saturday will be a day of interactive discovery at the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area.
There will be hourly tours of the wildlife area, close encounters with ducklings, water quality testing, tule duck decoy crafting, wood duck nest box building, owl pellet dissection, and other activities the adults will enjoy as much as the kids.
The event, sponsored in part by the Delta Protection Commission, runs 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at 45211 Co. Rd 32B (E. Chiles Road). There is a $20 entry fee per vehicle.
Rio Vista Gets New Fire Chief
Rio Vista selected Adam Pfenning as its Fire Chief.
Pfenning was originally hired as a Battalion Chief after serving for 15 years with the Tulare County Fire Department, and he has served as Interim Fire Chief.
He has experience in all facets of local government, labor relations, and the fire service. He has a bachelor's degree in fire administration, as well as multiple State Fire Marshal Certificates including "Chief Officer."
