Agricultural water management plans report released by DWR
DWR has published the Status of 2020 Agricultural Water Management Plans and Implementation of Efficient Water Management Practices Report. It covers information agricultural water suppliers must submit to DWR every five years. The report concludes that agricultural water suppliers are largely efficient and continue to improve efficiency through on-going implementation of efficient water management practices.
Sustainable agriculture to be discussed at forum next month
Sustain Southern California is hosting a forum next month on Innovating toward Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems. The discussions will cover solutions to many obstacles of sustainable agriculture and offer insights to innovative farming practices. The forum will be Tuesday, Feb. 20, in Irvine.

Project will put California water rights records online
Work is underway by the State Water Resources Control Board to make all of California’s water rights records available online. The effort is detailed in an online article published by the Water Education Foundation. Some of the records date to the mid-1800s and the only way to access them is to go through paper and microfilm records stored in a Sacramento facility. The goal is to have all the information online by next year.
Canadian organization provides open water data platform
DataStream is a Canadian organization that has created an open data platform with water data that has been contributed by more than 260 organizations. The information can be used to tackle freshwater challenges, explore integrations with other data systems, and browse learning resources. An online video of a webinar about the platform is available from the Internet of Water Coalition.
Conservancy board approves new implementation plan
The Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Conservancy Board has given final approval to its 2024 Implementation Plan. The plan provides details on tasks the conservancy will undertake this year to meet the objectives in its strategic plan. The conservancy leads efforts to protect, enhance, and restore the Delta’s economy, agriculture, working landscapes, and environment to benefit the Delta region.

Nature-based solutions forum opens registration for virtual attendance
Registration for virtual attendance is available for next week’s Policy Forum on Nature-based Solutions in Washington, DC. Hosted by The Network for Engineering with Nature and the National Academy of Sciences, the forum will cover the potential of nature-based solutions for infrastructure development, climate change solutions, and community revitalization. The forum will run Feb. 7 and 8.
