Article examines using purified wastewater for drinking
The Water Education Foundation has published an article on using purified sewage to meet drinking water needs. In particular, the idea has caught the attention of those who rely on the Colorado River for their water supply. The article includes details on how Phoenix, Arizona, is quickly advancing plans to purify its wastewater for household use in the expectation of State regulators’ approval. California's State Water Resources Control Board is working on regulating direct potable reuse, which would include the introduction of recycled water directly into a public drinking water system.

$41.9 million awarded to eight California park projects
California State Parks has awarded a total of $41.9 million in grants to provide new park access in eight communities across the state. The grants are part of an effort to support the diversity of California’s park needs. The funding is provided by the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Grant Program.
Applications being accepted for Sierra meadow habitat grants
The Sierra Meadows Partnership (SMP) grant program is accepting applications for projects focused on restoring meadow habitats. The SMP has released a proposal solicitation notice and grant guidelines with updated dates and links to application materials. Applications will be considered throughout the year at SMP management board meetings. Applications must be submitted by Wednesday, Feb. 7, to be consider at the February meeting.

Webinar series on nature-based coastal solutions begins Jan. 25
Coastal Quest will be hosting a two-part webinar to explore locally led nature-based solutions and tools for building resilient coasts. The series begins on Thursday, Jan. 25, with a webinar on attaining land for nature-based solutions. The second part, on Thursday, March 14, will cover launching multi-benefit nature-based solutions.
