California announces launch of Outdoors for All Strategy
In an effort to give more Californians a chance to enjoy outdoor experiences, the State has launched the Outdoors for All Strategy. This month’s launching includes the announcement of almost $18 million in grant funding for 71 projects that will provide more access to parks, nature, and places of cultural significance. One of the priorities of the Outdoor for All Strategy is to create and maintain high-quality outdoor spaces, especially in park-limited places.

Council offers help to access federal funding for climate projects
The California Strategic Growth Council has started a new program that will help communities access federal funds that are available for climate resilience projects. The Connecting Communities program will promote collaboration with private funding sources to enhance investment in underserved communities. The program will also assist with grant writing and application submissions.
Workshop series on environmental issues begins next week
Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 28, the Sustainable & Resilient Resources Roundtable will present a seven-part series of online workshops called Challenges to Sustaining Life on Earth: Moving to Action. The first two workshops include scientists who have made their careers studying the universe, and have now turned their focus to environmental concerns on Earth. Other workshops will include experts on climate, energy, land use, and sustainable economics.
New tools added to vegetation projects resource library
The Board of Forestry and Fire Protection has added new tools to the California Vegetation Treatment Program (CalVTP) Resource Library. The board also issued a storymap to present information on the tools, including project-specific analysis preparation and mitigation monitoring. They are designed to help expedite approvals of important vegetation treatment projects while protecting sensitive resources.

Survey underway on data management workshop topics
The Interagency Ecological Program is planning a data management workshop for April. It has posted a survey for input on potential topics for the workshop. The survey will be available through Thursday, Nov. 30. A date for the data management workshop hasn’t been set, but it will be around the time of 2024 IEP Annual Workshop that is scheduled for April 23–25.
