The California Water Data Consortium’s next Data for Lunch presentation will be tomorrow, Nov. 16. State agency representatives, including DWR Director Karla Nemeth, will discuss water data’s long-term effect on water stewardship for everyone living and working in California.
California releases tracking system for resilience to wildfires
California has released the beta version of a tracking system designed to improve the state’s resilience to wildfires. The Interagency Treatment Dashboard provides the size and location of all government forest and landscape resilience projects in California. The dashboard provides data and helps align efforts to build resilient landscapes and communities.
Go Golden Initiative provides $38 million for water projects
As part of the Go Golden Initiative, DWR has presented $38 million in grants to the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. The funding will be distributed among three projects that will increase turf replacement rebate incentives, provide low-income residents with water efficiency equipment, and provide fire departments with devices that recirculate water during full-flow training exercises. The Go Golden Initiative provides a partnership between the state of California and local organizations and agencies to fund projects that strengthen water infrastructure and community resilience.

DSC meeting will include Delta Conveyance Project update
An update on the Delta Conveyance Project is on the agenda of the next Delta Stewardship Council (DSC) meeting. The council will also receive a report on prioritizing funding for DWR projects that would build climate resiliency for the South Delta. The meeting is tomorrow, Nov. 16, in Sacramento.
Symposium will provide a look at the Delta's invasive species
Registration is open for this year’s Delta Invasive Species Symposium. It will be Thursday, Nov. 30, in Sacramento. Presentations will focus on how estuary connections affect invasive species movement, how different types of connectivity can help or hinder invasive species control, and how policy and management connections are critical to effective invasive species management. The symposium will offer a Zoom option.
Western Regional Partnership monthly update available
The latest edition of the Western Regional Partnership (WRP) monthly update has links to a wide range of information related to the WRP‘s mission of providing a framework to identify common goals and emerging issues in California and five other states. WRP seeks to develop solutions that support protect natural and cultural resources, while promoting sustainability, homeland security, and military readiness.
