Comments being accepted on proposed DPR regulations
The State Water Resources Control Board is accepting comments on changes to the text of the proposed regulations for direct potable reuse (DPR). The DPR process uses municipal wastewater to produce water that augments a source of supply for a public water system’s drinking water treatment plant or is placed into a public water system’s drinking water distribution system. The comment period runs through noon on Monday, Nov. 6.
Open and Transparent Water Data Act on Data for Lunch menu
DWR Director Karla Nemeth will be among the panelists at the California Water Data Consortium’s Data for Lunch event on Thursday, Nov. 16. The group will be discussing implementation of the Open and Transparent Water Data Act. Topics will include the role of data in achieving water resilience in California, including data’s long-term effect on water stewardship outcomes and opportunities to improve those outcomes.

State of the Basin Conference being held in Tulare
The Tulare Basin Watershed Network is hosting the second State of the Basin Conference, Wednesday, Nov. 15, in Tulare. The conference is designed to increase awareness on the challenges facing the Tulare Basin and how a multi-benefit watershed approach can support resilience. This year’s conference theme is “Managing Hydroclimatic Extremes.”
Annual PPIC water conference being held this month
The Public Policy Institute of California’s (PPIC's) annual water conference will be Tuesday, Nov. 14, in Sacramento. Under the theme of “Stewarding California’s Wet Years,” the agenda will cover lessons that can be learned from the unusually wet conditions of Water Year 2023. Panel discussions will include preparing for floods, harnessing water for dry times, and water policies.
Parks department seeking comments on waterway initiative
The California Department of Parks and Recreation is accepting comments on implementation of its Waterway Connections Initiative. The initiative is for inland communities that are near waterways but lack a meaningful connection to nature. The implementation outline is designed to build on existing State Parks plans, processes, and programs. The comment period ends Friday, Nov. 17.

Fall 2023 Water Forum scheduled in Auburn on Nov. 16
Registration is open for the Mountain Counties Water Resources Association’s Fall 2023 Water Forum. It will be Thursday, Nov. 16, in Auburn. The agenda will include legislative debriefings, panel discussions, and networking opportunities.
