Former DPC chair honored
Former Delta Protection Commission Chair Don Nottoli was honored last month with a Delta Champion Award.
Presented by the Delta Leadership Foundation, the Delta Improver award is presented each year to an "individual, organization, or family whose efforts have resulted in community improvement for Delta residents, whether in quality of life, quality of services available or other benefit to the health and well-being of Delta communities."
Nottoli served on the Delta Protection Commission from 1994 to 2022 as representative of the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors. His term with the commission ended when he chose not to seek re-election.

There is still a Harmful Algal Bloom danger advisory at Contra Loma Reservoir at Regional Park. STAY OUT OF THE WATER. KEEP PETS OUT OF THE WATER, AND DO NOT LET THEM EAT SCUM FROM THE SHORE. DO NOT EAT SHELLFISH FROM THE RESERVOIR.
There have been visual observations (same precautions apply):
- Old River at seven locations: the head of the Old River, at Mountain House, downstream of the ORT Barrier, at the Clifton Court Intake, downstream of the Clifton Court Forebay Intake, and near Quimby Island
- Victoria Canal near Union Point
- Turner Cut near the San Joaquin River
- Middle River near Mildred Island
- Holland Cut near Frank's Tract
There is an algal mat alert at the Clifton Court Forebay Inlet. The water may appear clear when algal mats form and attach to cobble, sand, or the bottom of the waterway. But mats can dislodge and float downstream or strand on the shoreline. Children and dogs should avoid touching mat material.
