Water Data Summit to include workshop on draft regulations
DWR and the State Water Resources Control Board will host an informal workshop on Thursday Sept. 7, to gather feedback on the draft regulations that were developed as part of the effort for Making Conservation a California Way of Life. This workshop will be part of the annual California Water Data Summit at Stanford The workshop is limited to those who are registered to attend the summit.
State parks ready to celebrate California Biodiversity Day
California State Parks invites the public to become community scientists and celebrate California Biodiversity Day, Thursday, Sept. 7. More than 40 parks statewide will be hosting dozens of special events and engaging activities from Saturday, Sept. 2, through Sunday, Sept. 10. The public is also invited to a friendly bioblitz competition to see who can record the highest number of species of plants and animals in California’s State Park System. Humboldt Redwoods State Park holds the record of 380 species identified in 2022. California Biodiversity Day was established in 2018.

DWR Director Nemeth participating in groundwater event
The ideas for achieving groundwater sustainability in the San Joaquin Valley will be discussed during an event in Fresno on Wednesday, Sept. 20. The day will feature authors of a new Public Policy Institute of California study along with State and local experts covering key issues and solutions. DWR Director Karla Nemeth will be participating in a discussion on how agencies and organizations can work together to achieve the goals. In-person attendance is limited; a live stream of the event will be available.
Forest resilience task force schedules meeting in Redding
A two-day meeting to discuss forest landscapes and land management issues unique to Northern California will be held Oct. 5 and 6, in Redding. The event is being hosted by the California Wildfire and Forest Resilience Task Force. The agenda includes a showcase of work being done in the region by local organizations. The second day of the meeting will feature field tours. While this is designed as an in-person event, a virtual option will be available for those who are not able top attend.

Berkeley conference will explore the latest in food science
Advances in agricultural and food sciences will be the focus of a day-long conference on Tuesday, Sept. 12, in Berkeley. The topics will include challenges to exiting food systems, adoption of new food solutions, and the potential effects of utilizing new technology.
