Water commission posts online survey on drought strategies
The California Water Commission is conducting an online survey to gather opinions on the commission’s drought strategies. Action 26.3 in California's 2020 Water Resilience Portfolio calls for the development of strategies to protect communities and fish and wildlife in the event of drought lasting at least six years. The survey will be open through Wednesday, July 12.

Drought strategy discussion to include three July workshops
As part of the drought strategy discussion, the California Water Commission has also scheduled three workshops in July. They will cover the need to prepare for a drought during a non-drought year. The workshops will be offered on July 19, July 25, and July 27. They will all be offered in English and Spanish.
Regional climate collaboratives on tomorrow's SGC agenda
At its meeting tomorrow, June 29, the Strategic Growth Council (SGC) is expected to approve guidelines for forming regional climate collaboratives. The collaboratives are designed to help communities establish partnerships to pursue funding for climate resilience projects. The council meeting is in Sacramento; there is an online option to attend.
Applications being accepted for regional resilience grants
The Governor's Office of Planning and Research has published the final guidelines for the first round of funding under the Regional Resilience Grant Program (RRGP). The grants are for projects that advance climate resilience and respond to climate risks. A series of workshops is being held to help applicants through the process. Workshops set for California's climate change assessment
Funding available for climate change assessment research
Several State agencies have announced a new solicitation to fund research that will be used for California’s Fifth Climate Change Assessment. In particular, the solicitation is for research that fills gaps in the scientific literature related to understanding and adapting to climate change impacts in California. As much as $5.5 million dollars in funding is expected to be distributed among approximately 20 to 30 research proposals. The deadline for proposal submissions is Monday, July 17.
