Two Update 2023 RMS workshops scheduled for July
DWR has scheduled two workshops in July to discuss resource management strategies (RMSes) for California Water Plan Update 2023. The first will cover the Agriculture Water Use Efficiency RMS on Tuesday, July 11. That will be followed on Tuesday, July 25, with a workshop on the Recycled Water RMS. The workshops will give Tribes, local agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the public an opportunity to review and provide comment on the content in the draft RMSes. The agendas and drafts for review will be sent to those who complete the registration form for each workshop.

$10 million awarded through Small Community Drought Relief
A total of more than $10 million in grants has been awarded to 11 California projects that will improve water supply reliability. The grants will be used to conduct pipeline replacement, well rehabilitation, and infrastructure upgrades. The funding was awarded through DWR’s Small Community Drought Relief Program. The projects are listed on the DWR Drought Program Funding webpage under “SCDRP Phase 10 2022-23.”
Outdoors for All initiative open for comment through July 10
The California Natural Resources Agency is accepting public comments on the Outdoors for All initiative. The draft strategy maps out a plan for government, public, and private agencies to work together and achieve equitable outdoor access. Outdoors for All calls for expanding parks and outdoor spaces in communities that need them most. A virtual workshop will be held Thursday, June 29, to provide an overview of the strategy. The public comment period runs through Monday, July 10. The strategy is available in Spanish.

Registration open for next Forest Stewardship Workshop
Registration is open for the next Forest Stewardship Workshop hosted by the University of California Cooperative Extension. The online workshop runs July 18–Sept. 12, with one in-person day in Solano County on Saturday, Aug. 5. Landowners will learn how to develop plans that improve and protect their forest lands in an ecologically and economically sustainable manner.
Webinar series looks at putting science to work for agriculture
Sustainable Conservation’s webinar series returns on Thursday, June 29 with the presentation, From Science to Practice. It will include a panel discussion on implementing soil health practices that help farmers nourish communities and the environment. This is part of the Solutions in Our Soil webinar series that has explored the importance of soil health and its connection to water.

Strategy released for Sacramento Regional Water Bank
A newly released foundational document describes the overall strategy, process, and considerations related to development of the Sacramento Regional Water Bank. The document is the work of the Regional Water Authority as it sets the direction for developing the water bank’s operations. The water bank is a multi-agency partnership that will enhance the opportunities for recharging and storage of water underground.
California Data Collaborative sets Riverside County workshop
The California Data Collaborative will hold its second workshop of the year on Thursday, July 27, in Riverside County. The event will feature speakers from around the water sector discussing how they are leaning on data to help implement strategies that address the state's water challenges. An online option is available for those who are not able to attend in person.
