DWR announces Urban Community Drought Relief awards
DWR has chosen 44 projects to receive a total of more than $217 million in funding under the Urban Community Drought Relief Grant program. The projects will help communities adapt to a hotter and drier future by improving groundwater recharge, water supply reliability, and water conservation. The funding will also go toward strategies that include yard transformations and increasing the use of recycled water.

Water commission agenda includes WSIP, groundwater trading
An update on the Water Storage Investment Program (WSIP) is on the agenda of the June 21 meeting of the California Water Commission. In addition to an update from commission staff, the Willow Springs Water Bank Conjunctive Use Project will discuss the status of its WSIP project. Commissioners will also get an update on groundwater trading in California, including a presentation from two groundwater-trading practitioners who will discuss their experience with the process. The meeting is in Sacramento; a webcast will be available.
Special edition features California Water Data Consortium
The DWR Data News has released a special edition dedicated to the California Water Data Consortium. The newsletter provides information on the consortium’s goals, funding, and actions. The consortium was founded in 2019 to facilitate collaboration and increase access to high-quality water data.

Blog describes effort to create comprehensive water data source
A federal effort to create a widely accessible, comprehensive source of water data is the topic of the latest blog from the Internet of Water Coalition. Water data are stored across multiple platforms that are managed by States, Tribes, and local agencies throughout the country. The Center for Geospatial Solutions is working with the U.S. Geological Survey to bring all the data under one umbrella and provide decision-makers with better data.
Delta ISB releases one report, seeks comments on second
A review of the science of water supply reliability estimation has been released by the Delta Independent Science Board (Delta ISB). It includes eight recommendations for improving water supply reliability analyses in California. A summary sheet of the report is available. The Delta ISB is also seeking public comments on its draft prospectus, Science Supporting Decision-Making Under Deep Uncertainty. The comment deadline is Monday, June 26.
