California Invasive Species Action Week kickoff on Friday
This Friday, June 2, kickoff California Invasive Species Action Week with a panel discussion on defending the state from invasive species. The event is part of the California Natural Resources Agency’s (CNRA’s) Secretary Speaker Series. Invasive plants and animals can threaten biodiversity, clog waterways, damage crops, and weaken levees. The discussion and webinar will be moderated by CNRA Secretary Wade Crowfoot.

DWR launches permit portal for Delta Conveyance Project
DWR has launched a “permit portal” to help with plans and projects for the Delta Conveyance Project. The portal includes access to information and resources related to some of the more critical environmental compliance and permitting processes. The new website has all relevant California Environmental Quality Act information, along with the draft environmental impact report.
Funding approved for wetlands, waterfront projects in Delta
Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Conservancy Board has approved $24 million in funding for two projects that will restore wetlands and improve community access in Contra Costa County. One project, on Webb Tract, will design and construct up to 3,500 acres of managed, flooded wetlands and up to 1,500 acres of rice fields. The second project will revitalize Pittsburg’s downtown waterfront park and boat launch facilities.

State Water Board seeking comments on draft water fund plans
The State Water Resources Control Board is accepting public comments on the draft 2023 Intended Use Plan (IUP) for the Clean Water State Revolving Fund Program and the draft 2023 IUP for the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. A workshop on the draft documents will be held Tuesday, June 20, in Sacramento. Information on attending the workshop and the process for submitting comments is available in this public notice. The comment deadline is Friday, June 23.
This week's Stanford conference focusing on groundwater
“Sensors to Solutions for Groundwater Science and Management in California’s San Joaquin Valley,” is the theme of a conference this week at Stanford University. The conference will explore innovations that have the potential to significantly advance groundwater science and adaptive groundwater management. The two-day conference begins Friday, June 2.
Annual Day in the Marsh event coming up this Saturday
Join the California Waterfowl Association (CWA) on Saturday, June 3, for the CWA Day in the Marsh. The event is at Grizzly Ranch in Suisun City. The day will include a variety of youth activities, auctions, and raffles. This will be the 40th anniversary of a Day in the Marsh.
