Update 2023 urban water use efficiency workshop set for May 9
The series of workshops on resource management strategies (RMSes) for California Water Plan Update 2023 (Update 2023) continues Tuesday, May 9, with a look at urban water use efficiency. The workshop will give local agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the public an opportunity to review and provide comment on the content in the draft RMS. A link to the online workshop will be emailed to those who register.

DWR to host meeting on water supply assessment reports
An informational meeting on the annual urban water supply and demand assessment will be hosted by DWR’s Water Use Efficiency Branch on Friday, May 12. It will be an opportunity for urban water suppliers to learn about the next round of assessment reports that are due on July 1. Registration is required to attend the online meeting.
SWEEP Block Grant Pilot workshop to be held at 1 p.m. today
A pool of as much as $40 million is being made available under the State Water Efficiency and Enhancement Program (SWEEP) Block Grant Pilot program. SWEEP provides financial incentives for California agricultural operations to invest in irrigation systems that save water and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. An informational webinar will be held this afternoon, May 3, at 1 p.m. The grant application deadline is Monday, June 19.
Cache Slough recreation opportunities on agenda for tomorrow
Recreational plans for the Cache Slough area of the Delta will be discussed during an online meeting tomorrow, May 4. DWR, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Solano County are seeking public input on potential boating, fishing, hiking, and other recreational activities in the area. During the meeting, the three agencies provide an analysis of current recreational opportunities and explain the criteria to evaluate and prioritize the opportunities.

Water Awareness Month Water Bootcamp begins today
Every Wednesday this month, the California Water Institute will host the Water Awareness Month Water Bootcamp. The sessions start today (May 3) with information on water rights and the Delta. Upcoming sessions will cover surface water (May 10), groundwater (May 17), and a presentation in Spanish (May 24). Registration requires an account with World Ag Expo.
Colorado River Basin presentation on EWRI's May agenda
The May meeting of the Environmental and Water Resources Institute’s (EWRI's) Sacramento Chapter will include a presentation on conditions in the Colorado River Basin. This presentation will summarize current hydrologic conditions and challenges facing the basin today and will describe some of the recent ideas for improving long-term operations for Lakes Powell and Mead. The meeting will be Thursday, May 11, in Sacramento.

CFCC schedules three virtual funding fairs for May
The California Financing Coordinating Committee (CFCC) has scheduled three virtual funding fairs this month, May 4, May 16, and May 25. The fairs provide an opportunity to meet with State and federal agency representatives about funding options for infrastructure projects.The May 25 fair includes an in-person option in Sacramento.
