Remembering Dr. Henry Go
Dr. Henry Go peacefully passed away in his Delta home on March 16, 2023. Dr. Go received the Delta Regional Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022 for his 60+ year career as the North Delta’s doctor. His practice was based in Courtland and he was a key member of the community. Please join us in remembering Dr. Go for his long service to the Delta. He will be missed.
Apply to Join the Delta Protection Advisory Committee
Nominations due by Friday, April 28
The Delta Protection Commission is soliciting nominations to serve on the Delta Protection Advisory Commission (DPAC). The DPAC is a 15-member committee that advises the Commission on policy areas and needs of the Delta as a place.
DPAC members serve three-year terms and may be re-elected. The DPAC generally meets every other month. Meetings may be held virtually or in-person at a location in the Delta.
The following five DPAC seats are available:
- Delta Tribe and other organizations
- Delta agriculture
- Delta recreation
- State agency
- Utilities
Current DPAC members in these seats may apply for re-election.
You may nominate yourself or another individual you believe would be interested in serving on the DPAC. To apply, send an email to dpc@delta.ca.gov or a letter to 2101 Stone Blvd., Suite 200, West Sacramento, 95691 with the following information:
- Your name and contact information (If you nominating someone else, include their information as well)
- Which DPAC seat you are applying for
- A brief description of your relationship to the Delta
- How your experience qualifies you or your nominee for the seat you are applying for
Nominations are due by Friday, April 28. The DPAC appointments will be made at the May 18 Delta Protection Commission meeting.

Restore the Delta/UNC Air Quality Internship
Applications due by April 14
Restore the Delta is recruiting Summer 2023 Air Quality Interns! In partnership with researchers from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, this paid internship is a full-time, hybrid position lasting 10 to 12 weeks for current or recent undergraduate students.
This is amazing opportunity for Delta youth. Please pass along the information for those in the community that may be interested.The deadline to apply has been extended to April 14.

Delta Island Adaptations 3rd Public Workshop

Virtual workshop only
The Delta Island Adaptations Project Team invites the public to discuss proposed land use scenarios for Bouldin Island developed in phase 2 of the project. Input from this workshop will be integrated into the planning process, in alignment with the project’s co-design framework.

San Joaquin Asparagus Festival
Friday, April 14 to Sunday, April 16
San Joaquin County Fairgrounds 1658 S. Airport Way, Stockton 95206
Asparagus used to grow abundantly in San Joaquin County. Sadly, there are few asparagus growers left in the Delta. Celebrate the history of Delta agriculture as the San Joaquin Asparagus Festival. In addition to asparagus themed food there will be monster trucks, live entertainment, and more.
Stockton Yacht Club Opening Day Parade
Saturday, April 15 1 PM
The Stockton Yacht Club Opening Day parade and dinner will be held on Saturday, April 15. This year's theme is the Wild West on the Delta. Pre-registration is required to participate in the parade. Viewing the parade is free. All proceeds go to charity.
Immigrant Pioneer Contributions

Interested in learning more about the Delta? Los Medanos College's Lifelong Learning Center is hosting a series of lectures on the history of the Delta. The lectures are being taught by Carol Jensen, local historian and Delta National Heritage Area Advisory Committee member.
During this lecture, Carol will discuss immigrant pioneer contributions to Contra Costa County and the Delta. Reconsider the California dream as she traces the contribution of the pioneer laborer from the Chinese railroad worker to the end of the Bracero program.

Art Lecture with Gary Carlos

Join the Haggin Museum for an art talk with artist and San Joaquin Delta College professor Gary Carlos. His work connects the intimate scale of mark making in art, with the monumental and collective “mark making” that is visible all around us in our landscape. Growing up and living in the Central Valley, Gary is particularly interested in marks, patterns, lines, and shapes that are the result of agriculture and housing.
Filipino American History Symposium: All Roads Lead to Stockton

Join the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS) Stockton Chapter, the FANHS Museum, and other community partners for the first event of the Chapter’s Speakers Bureau Committee. Through most of the 20th century Stockton was home to the largest community of Filipinos outside the Philippines. This symposium will touch on how Filipino Americans and their decedents shaped the history, culture, and economy of Stockton and San Joaquin County.
A reception will follow the presentations. Appetizers and refreshments will be available. The event is free of charge and open to all.
Celebrate Earth Day in the Delta
