Central Valley Flood Protection Plan update gets final approval
The Central Valley Flood Protection Board (CVFPB) has given final approval to the Central Valley Flood Protection Plan Update 2022 (Update 2022). The plan is used as a guide for the State’s investment in flood management programs. Update 2022 takes a systemwide approach to flood management, outlining specific actions and policies to guide the State’s investments and partnerships in the Sacramento River and San Joaquin River basins in the decades to come.

Process guide provides lessons learned during Update 2018
DWR has posted the California Water Plan Update 2018 Process Guide. The report summarizes the elements of the Update 2018 development process. It also highlights the organizational structure and methods used to facilitate collaboration among State, federal and local agencies; California Native American Tribes; interested parties; and technical experts.
WRP releases collaborative report on resilience in the West
The Western Regional Partnership (WRP) has released a report on how collaboration among federal, State, and Tribal organizations can build resilience for America’s defense, energy, environment, and infrastructure. The report has a section on water security, developed with DWR participation, that includes resource management strategies from the California Water Plan. The WRP provides a collaborative framework to identify common goals and emerging issues in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah.

EPIC report offers best practices for replacing lead pipes
A list of best practices and recommendations for replacing lead pipes in the U.S. has been released by the Environmental Policy Innovation Center (EPIC). From the Ground Up: A Guide to Replacing the Nation's Lead Pipes Over the Next Decade is designed for municipalities, utilities, and policymakers. The information is based on lessons learned from utilities, technology groups, government officials, and others over the past two years.
WEF sets 2023 dates for Water 101, Colorado River tour
Save the dates for two Water Education Foundation events on the calendar for the first quarter of next year. On Feb. 23 and 24, Water 101, will provide details on current water topics, along with the history, geography, and political facets of water in California. And a three-day tour of the Lower Colorado River will be offered March 8–10. The tour will travel from Hoover Dam to the Mexico border.
CNRA opens career center for State employees, public
The California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) has opened a new career center in downtown Sacramento. It is set up to provide information on all aspects of the State hiring process. It is open to State employees and the public. The CNRA Career Center also has an informational video and an online FAQ page.
