 The Delta Heritage Forum is Less Than Two Weeks Away

The Forum is a free, full-day event focused on preserving and telling Delta and Carquinez Strait stories, and providing opportunities for partnerships, collaboration, and networking. The theme for this year’s Forum is “Writing the Next Chapter in Delta Heritage.” Anyone with an interest in Delta heritage is invited to attend.

 Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Conservancy Meeting

The Delta Conservancy is pleased to announce that their October 26 Board Meeting will be conducted in a hybrid format and will include site visits to two Conservancy-funded projects.
The business meeting will begin at 9:00 AM at the Delta Conservancy Conference Room. You can choose to participate either by webinar or in person at the Delta Conservancy office in West Sacramento.
The meeting agenda includes program updates; an overview of nature-based solutions and Delta subsidence/carbon management; and action items on the process and criteria for waiving the recording of landowner access agreements for Conservancy agreements, and CEQA findings and the award of grant funds for the Ulatis Creek Habitat Restoration Project.
 Delta Stewardship Council Meeting

The Delta Stewardship Council will hold a regular public meeting on October 27. The meeting agenda includes consideration of an reappointment to the Delta Independent Science Board, a presentation on the Governor's Water Supply Strategy, and consideration of amendments to the Council's administrative procedures governing appeals.
 Delta Restoration Forum Survey
Complete the survey by October 31
Restoration of the Delta involves numerous groups and requires broad collaboration. On behalf of the Delta Plan Interagency Implementation Committee (DPIIC), the Delta Stewardship Council and the Delta Conservancy will co-host the DPIIC’s first Restoration Forum in early 2023. This event will provide space for Delta community members, tribes, and others to share their perspectives and learn about developments in ecosystem restoration efforts.
To schedule and plan the Forum and future events, the Council and Conservancy are seeking Community input through this survey. If you are interested in participating, complete the survey by October 31.
 Highway 4 Full Road Closure
Friday, October 28 to Monday, October 31
Caltrans is preparing to begin a bridge preventative maintenance and rehabilitation project that will make necessary upgrades and repairs to the Old River Bridge on State Route 4 (SR-4), located at the San Joaquin/Contra Costa County line, east of Discovery Bay.
One, 55-hour full highway closure and detour will be required to perform work beginning at 10:00 PM on Friday, October 28, through 5:00 AM on Monday, October 31, 2022.
Long-term, one-way traffic control will be implemented on SR-4 at the Old River Bridge beginning at 5:00 AM on Monday, October 31, 2022, through April 23, 2023.
 Fall-O-Ween

Enjoy a spooky weekend at the 3rd Annual Fall-O-Ween Fest featuring a maze, pumpkin patch, swim for pumpkins, face painting, games, food, photo areas, scavenger hunt, and more. This Spooktacular family event is open to all ages from Thursday, October 27 to Friday, October 28 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Antioch Water Park. The entry fee is only $5 per person at the door, or you can pre-purchase tickets.
 Golden Harvest Festival and Parade

Join the 1st Annual Golden Harvest Festival and Parade. The festival begins at 10:00 AM and goes until 5:00 PM at the California State Historic Park in Old Sacramento, with the parade running from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. The theme of this year’s festivities will be “Unity, Harmony and Peace.” Organizers hope that this event will help foster a sense of community and combat the growing divisiveness across our country.
 Día de Los Muertos Fiesta

Mexican Heritage Center & Gallery 111 S. Sutter St, Stockton 95204
The fourth annual Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) community street fiesta will take place on Saturday, October 29. The fiesta will return for the second year as a four-block street fiesta in downtown Stockton at the intersection of Sutter St./Market St. The fiesta takes place right at the corner of the Mexican Heritage Center & Gallery.
 El Panteón de Sacramento
October 28 to October 30
Latino Center of Art and Culture 2700 Front St, Sacramento, CA 95818
The centuries-old tradition of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) will be celebrated this year on the grounds of the Latino Center of Art and Culture. This annual LCAC event, El Panteón de Sacramento, features live dance and music. It will also include dozens of traditional memorials created by families and friends to honor those who have passed, telling the stories of their departed loved ones.
 Lodi Sandhill Crane Festival
November 4 to November 6
Hutchins Street Square 125 S. Hutchins Street, Lodi 95240
The Lodi Sandhill Crane Festival is returning to Lodi’s Hutchins Street Square on November 5th and 6th. The event’s popular guided wildlife tours begin Friday, November 4th, and are scheduled through Sunday the 6th. Reservations are strongly recommended as tours fill quickly. Other Festival activities include presentations, workshops, an art show, and an exhibit hall. For a list of tours, including space availability and fees, visit www.lodisandhillcrane.org.
