Delta Heritage Forum
Thursday, November 3 12 PM to 8 PM

The Forum is a free, full-day event focused on preserving and telling Delta and Carquinez Strait stories, and providing opportunities for partnerships, collaboration, and networking. The theme for this year’s Forum is “Writing the Next Chapter in Delta Heritage.” Anyone with interest in Delta heritage is invited to attend.
The Forum will include an update on the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta National Heritage Area, a discussion group on the upcoming America 250 celebration, an interactive panel on contemporary Delta writing, short, “lightning” talks on various subjects, and an evening workshop on the National Heritage Area Management Plan. The detailed schedule will be available by late October.

Delta Independent Science Board (ISB) Meeting
Thursday, October 13 9 AM to 12 PM
Virtual Meeting
The Delta ISB will meet on October 13 via Zoom. The meeting topics include an overview of mitigation, the Delta Conveyance Project Environmental Impact Report, and reflections from outgoing Delta ISB members Dr. Jay Lund and Dr. Joe Fernando.
Delta Drought Response Pilot Program
The deadline to submit bids is 5 PM is Tuesday, October 18
The Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Conservancy has announced the initiation of the Delta Drought Response Pilot Program for water year 2023. Participation in the Program requires interested individual agricultural water users to submit bids. Bids for the Program are due at 5 p.m. on October 18, 2022.
10th Anniversary Celebration of the Big Break Visitor Center in the Delta

Commemorate 10 years of the Big Break Visitor Center at the Delta. Experience both old and new with original exhibits and behind-the-scenes documents on display. Join staff for fun, educational activities on the patio celebrating all things Delta-related.
Contemporary Filipino American Art
October 13 to November 10 Reception on Thursday, October 13 from 5 PM to 7 PM

The Horton Art Gallery at San Joaquin Delta College will have an exhibit on Contemporary Filipino American Art from October 13 through November 10. The exhibit includes a reception on October 13, a Pangalay performance and community dance circle on October 22, and an artist talk with Michelle Natividad Stein on November 10. Admission to the gallery exhibition, reception, and events are free and open to the public.

Sacramento Highwater Jamboree

On October 15, the City of Sacramento will hold its annual flood preparedness event called the Highwater Jamboree. Attendees will be able to interact with flood-fighting equipment, including heavy machinery, helicopters, police, fire, and rescue vehicles, and learn how to prepare for storm and flood events at interactive stations.
Strong Roots Celebrating Clarksburg's Multi-Cultural Heritage

This benefit for the 1883 Clarksburg Schoolhouse will honor the cultures that have made Clarksburg the place we know and love today. Little Manila Historic Site Tours

Filipino American National Historical Society Museum 337 E. Weber Ave, Stockton 95202
Celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the designation of the Little Manila Historic Site by joining Little Manila Rising in doing a walking tour of the site. Little Manila Rising will discuss the history of Filipino migration to Stockton as well as the rich history of other migrations to create the Oriental Quarter and the destruction of these cultural sites due to the Crosstown Freeway construction.
Oakley History Through Time
Multiple Dates and Locations
The East Contra Costa Historical Society is providing content and materials for a new, mobile exhibit featuring Oakley History Through Time. This easily transportable exhibit is available for venues throughout Oakley. It covers the themes of early settlers, historic sites and architecture, agriculture and packing heritage, Delta trials and milestones, and modern day. Contact the Historical Society to schedule the exhibit at your location.
Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) Weekly Report
There is currently a "Danger" level Harmful Algal Bloom at the Big Break Regional Shoreline Boat Launch. The California State Water Resources Control Board advises individuals to stay out of the water, not touch the scum on the water or shoreline, keep pets out of the water, and not eat shellfish from the waterbody.
There are "Caution" advisories in the following areas:
- Three-Mile Slough
- False River
- Fisherman’s Cut
- Franks Tract
- Old River at the following locations: between Franks Tract and San Joaquin River, Clifton Court Intake, downstream of ORT barrier, Mountain House, Tracy Wildlife Association, near Doughty Cut, and head of Old River
- Holland Cut
- Middle River at the following locations: near Mildred Island, Tracy, Howard Road, and Undine
- Turner Cut
- San Joaquin River at Windmill Cove and Stockton Rod and Gun Club
- Buckley Cove Boat Launch
- Smith Canal near American Legion Park
- McLeod Lake at Morelli Park and by Joan Darrah Promenade
- Mormon Slough
- Victoria Canal
- West Canal
- Grant Line Canal near Old River and East of Temporary Barrier
