Voice of San Diego, 9/26/22- The latest measurements from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration shows the American West is in for another dry La Niña winter, unwelcome news for the West currently struggling to keep flowing its main source of water: the shrinking Colorado River.
WATER INFRASTRUCTURE
Reuters, 9/26/22,- A federal appeals court has found agencies operating a dam in central California are able to protect an endangered population of Steelhead trout by releasing water to help with its migration, reversing a lower court's order finding their hands were tied by federal law.
WATER SUPPLY & QUALITY
KSBY, 9/26/22,- New water restrictions and penalties are set to impact more than 13,000 people who live in Grover Beach. New projections show that Grover Beach could face a water supply shortfall in two years. The city is now taking action to make sure that supply meets demand. The Grover Beach City Council approved a citywide, mandatory 20 percent cutback in water use at its meeting Tuesday night.

The Nevada Independent, 9/25/22-On a warm September morning, Mike Goddard pointed his scope toward a marshy pond within the Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge. What Goddard hoped to spot: The many migratory birds that forage in the shallow shores of the wetlands, once abundant in this area outside of Fallon.

Phys.org, 9/27/22-Trees have long been known to buffer humans from the worst effects of climate change by pulling carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Now new research shows just how much forests have been bulking up on that excess carbon.
CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES
Jefferson Public Radio, 9/27/22- United States Forest Service officials have opened a criminal investigation into the cause of the Mosquito Fire, according to a new filing by Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E). In a report to the Security and Exchange Commission on Saturday, PG&E officials also said that federal investigators seized utility-owned infrastructure — a transmission line and its attached equipment — located near the OxBow Reservoir in Placer County, where the fire started.

The public is invited to comment on the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Delta Conveyance Project. The Delta Conveyance Project was released for public review and comment on July 27, 2022 and the comment period will end on October 27, 2022.

Participants may wish to attend one or both of the informational sessions.

By the Water Education Foundation - This 3-day, 2-night excursion across the Sacramento Valley travels north from Sacramento through Oroville to Redding and Shasta Lake.
