The Forum is a free, full-day event focused on efforts to preserve and tell Delta and Carquinez Strait stories, opportunities for partnerships and collaboration, and networking. The theme for this year’s Forum will be “Writing the Next Chapter in Delta Heritage.” Invitees will include cultural organizations, federal, state, and local officials, business and civic organizations, and those interested in Delta heritage.

 Science for Communities Workshop

The Delta Stewardship Council is organizing an in-person workshop, Science for Communities, to foster opportunities for scientists to contribute to communities and communities to contribute to science. The goal is to boost Delta community awareness of and access to the environmental data and technical tools that are available to them.

The Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Conservancy has announced the initiation of the Delta Drought Response Pilot Program for water year 2023. To explain what’s new for water year 2023 and to go over the solicitation packet and online bid form, the 2023 Delta Drought Response Pilot Program planning committee is hosting three upcoming workshops for prospective grantees.
Participation in the Program requires interested individual agricultural water users to submit bids. Bids for the Program are due at 5 p.m. on October 18, 2022.
 74th Annual Rio Vista Bass Derby & Festival
Friday, October 7 to Sunday, October 9
Downtown Rio Vista
The Rio Vista Bass Derby & Festival is a multi-day event consisting of a fishing derby, festival, carnival, and more. For the derby, participants will present Striped Bass, Sturgeon, and Salmon to the volunteers at the foot of Main St. for weighing and measuring. The first three places in each category will win cash prizes.
The festival will take place on Front St. and Main St. in downtown Rio Vista and entrance is free. Enjoy food, drinks, live music, and local vendors. Also join the real hometown parade on Sunday, October 9.

 34th Annual Kids Free Fishing Derby
Saturday, October 8 8 AM to 12 PM
Antioch Fishing Pier Waldie Plaza, Antioch, CA 94509
The California Striped Bass Association, West Delta Chapter is holding its 34th Annual Kids Free Fishing Derby to Get Kids Hooked on Fishing, Not Drugs or Gangs on Saturday, October 8. The event will be held at Compy's Pier, #1 Waldie Plaza in Antioch.
Registration starts at 8 AM. Fishing will take place from 9 AM to Noon. 1st, 2nd & 3rd place prizes will be awarded for 3 age groups for the most fish caught and released. You must bring your own fishing rods. Hooks, sinkers, and bait will be provided.
 Downtown Brentwood Coalition Oktoberfest

The sights, sounds, and tastes of Germany are once again making their way to the City Park in Downtown Brentwood! The Annual Oktoberfest will feature traditional German fare, food, and beers. Enjoy local beer and wine, live music, obstacle course races, a dog parade, and other contests and games.
 Through My Father’s Eyes: The Filipino American Photographs of Ricardo Ocreto Alvarado

This photographic exhibition is a rare collection of fifty-one black-and-white photographs taken by Ricardo Alvarado (1914–1976) in Northern California during the 1940s and 50s. Selected from more than 3,000 negatives, these affectionate images of ordinary people at work and at play provide an intimate view of Filipino life and history in the United States.
The West Sacramento Historical Society is holding a special exhibition opening reception on Friday, October 14. The exhibit runs from October 10 to November 17.
 Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) Weekly Report
There is currently a "Danger" level Harmful Algal Bloom at the Big Break Regional Shoreline Boat Launch. The California State Water Resources Control Board advises individuals to stay out of the water, not touch the scum on the water or shoreline, keep pets out of the water, and not eat shellfish from the waterbody.
There are "Caution" advisories in the following areas:
- Sherman Lake
- Sacramento River at Sandy Beach and Brannan Island State Recreation Area
- Three-Mile Slough
- False River
- Fisherman’s Cut
- Mokelumne River at B&W Resort Marina
- Old River at the following locations: between Franks Tract and San Joaquin River, Clifton Court Intake, downstream of ORT barrier, Mountain House, Tracy Wildlife Association, near Doughty Cut, and head of Old River
- Holland Cut
- Little Potato Slough at Tower Park Marina
- White Slough at King Island Marina Boat Launch
- Middle River at the following locations: near Mildred Island, Tracy, Howard Road, and Undine
- Turner Cut
- San Joaquin River at the following locations: Windmill Cove, Stockton Rod and Gun Club, and Mossdale Crossing Regional Park
- Fourteen Mile Slough/White Slough at Village West Marina and Resort
- Buckley Cove Boat Launch
- Smith Canal near American Legion Park
- McLeod Lake at Morelli Park and by Joan Darrah Promenade
- Mormon Slough
- Victoria Canal
