Byron Hot Springs: The Most Fabulous Resort in the West

Los Medanos College Lifelong Learning Center is holding a series of monthly, adult lectures on the history of the Delta from August 2022 through May 2023. Join Carol Jensen, local historian, as she talks about the history and significance of the Byron Hot Springs. The Byron Hot Springs is the “Carlsbad of the West!” and during the early 20th century the famous, the wealthy, the infirm and the curious arrived to enjoy the Resort.
You do not need to be a student of Los Medanos College to take part in the adult lectures.
Music at the Pittsburg Marina

Yolo County Fair

Celebrate the best of Yolo County! The Yolo County Fair runs for five days and includes live performances, music, a carnival, demolition derbies, and much more! Don’t miss the Yolo County Fair Museum (pictured here) which includes exhibits from the West Sacramento Historical Society, Yolo County Historical Society, and more.

Antioch Multicultural Festival

The City of Antioch, in partnership with the Backyard Movement, is holding a festival to celebrate Asian and Pacific Island cultures. It will feature dance and music performances, artwork, and plenty of food. There will also be a kids' activity area with jump houses, games, and face painting. Join this fun community celebration!

Delta Champion Awards Dinner

The winners have been chosen for the Delta Regional Foundation's Delta Champion Awards! Join the celebratory dinner to recognize the following individuals and organizations for their contributions to the Delta:
- Dino Cortopassi (Stockton-area businessman and farmer, recognized posthumously) - Delta Preserver
- Bill Wells (California Delta Chambers and Visitor's Bureau) - Delta Promoter
- Restore the Delta (Stockton-based nonprofit) - Delta Improver
- RioVision (Rio Vista-based nonprofit) - Delta Innovator
- Dr. Henry Go (Courtland-based physician) - Delta Lifetime Achievement
The dinner will be held on Tuesday, September 13 at 5:30 PM in Thornton.
Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) Weekly Report
There are currently "Danger" level Harmful Algal Blooms at the Big Break Regional Shoreline Boat Launch and Discovery Bay. The California State Water Resources Control Board advises individuals to stay out of the water, not touch the scum on the water or shoreline, keep pets out of the water, and not eat shellfish from the waterbody.
There is a "Warning" for McLeod Lake by Joan Darrah Promenade
There are "Caution" advisories in the following areas:
- Mokelumne River near San Joaquin River and at Delta Paradise Island Marina
- San Joaquin River at the following locations: Prisoner's Point, Eddos Harbor & RV Park, east of Blind Pt, Lost Isle, Windmill Cove, between Calaveras River and Buckley Cove, Stockton Rod and Gun Club, Dad's Point, east end of Rough and Ready Island, Stockton Turning Basin, and west of West Island
- Confluene of the Sacramento and San Joaquin River at the Pittsburg Marina
- Fisherman's Cut near San Joaquin River
- False River near San Joaquin River
- Frank's Tract Mid-Tract
- Old River at the following locations: between Franks Tract and San Joaquin River, east of Holland Riverside Marina, Clifton Court Intake, head of Old River, near Doughty Cut, and Tracy Wildlife Association
- West Canal at Clifton Court Intake
- Grant Line Canal east of Temporary Barrier
- Victoria Canal near Union Point
- Middle River at Tracy and Howard Road
- Smith Canal near American Legion Park and between Dad's Point/Louis Park and Pershing Avenue
- Buckley Cove Boat Launch
- Mormon Slough near W. Weber Ave
- McLeod Lake at Morelli Park
