By ABC7 Los Angeles, 5/26/22. Water conservation measures announced earlier this month by Mayor Eric Garcetti were approved by the Los Angeles City Council Wednesday, confirming that outdoor watering in the city will be restricted to two days per week based on street addresses beginning June 1.

The message from the Governor’s office was clear – either municipalities and cities need to cut their water usage to curtail the impact of California’s historic drought, or he’s going to mandate that they do so. And last week the Lathrop City Council did its part – adopting an ordinance that declared a drought emergency and implemented Level 2 watering restrictions from within the City of Lathrop’s water shortage contingency plan.

By the Tri-County Sentry, 5/27/22. The Oxnard City Council adopted a water conservation restrictions state of emergency Tuesday, May 17, due to drought conditions and a lack of adequate water supply. The City of Oxnard is operating with a one-day-a-week limit for outdoor watering until further notice. Starting June 1, people who violate this rule will be subject to fines that will escalate.

This is the first of three webinars to inform and solicit input from stakeholders on the development of a guidebook to support the preparation of County Drought Plans which focus on state small water systems and domestic wells as required under SB 552. During this first webinar, DWR and State Water Board will review the SB 552 requirements for counties and the plan to develop a guidebook as technical assistance, and solicit input on needed tools and considerations that could help counties meet the requirements.
