A message from Yuba Water Agency General Manager Willie Whittlesey

Greetings,
It's Flood Preparedness Week! You might be wondering why we're talking about floods when it's 80 degrees outside and there was just a red-flag warning for wildfires.
The reality is, anytime you live near a river or dam, you are at risk of flooding.
As winter approaches, it's impossible to know what Mother Nature has in store for us. That's why we have to be prepared for any scenario. And the time to prepare is now, not when a megastorm is upon us.
At Yuba Water Agency, we've spent the last 60 plus years laser-focused on reducing flood risk for the people of Yuba County. From building New Bullards Bar Dam and Reservoir to investing millions in critical levee improvement projects like the Feather River Setback Levee in Plumas Lake, the Bear River Setback Levee in Wheatland and ongoing work on the Marysville Ring Levee.
But flood risk is a continual effort, especially as we face more extreme weather. That's why we are always preparing, even when it's warm and dry outside. And we want you to prepare too.
We recently sent our more flood-prone residents a special Flood Preparedness Week mailer exploring our area's flood history, projects that should help you sleep better at night and some great tips on how to be ready and resilient. You can also find that content here digitally and in our featured news below.
I hope you find this newsletter valuable. Thanks for reading.

But there's still work to do. This is Flood Preparedness Week, so please take a moment to learn about Yuba County's flood history, the work Yuba Water and our partners are doing to reduce flood risk and how you can prepare today.
