A message from Yuba Water Agency General Manager Willie Whittlesey

Greetings,
It's summertime in Yuba County, which means sprawling green rice fields, orchards bursting with peaches and local lakes and waterways buzzing with recreators.
If you haven't had the chance to experience the beauty of our reservoir, New Bullards Bar, I highly recommend a visit before summer's over. It's just a short 45-minute drive from Marysville and the conditions are perfect right now. Come up and enjoy the expansive shoreline around the Dark Day day-use area, rent a boat from Emerald Cove Marina for a day adventure or explore one of the many scenic trails in the area.
In addition to being an incredible recreation destination, Bullards Bar reduces flood risk for Yuba County and provides much of the water that you see irrigating local farms.
While our water supply is in good shape right now, we're always preparing for more dry years that we know are ahead. That's why we're partnering with local public water districts to offer Yuba County residents free water conservation kits this summer. Although we're not a residential water provider ourselves, we're in a position to support some of our local water providers to help their customers save water (and money!) on their bills. So, that's what we're doing.
You can read more below about how to get a free kit and other recent happenings around Yuba Water Agency.
Thanks for reading. Enjoy the rest of your summer and stay cool!

New, wider marina gate installed near Emerald Cove Marina at New Bullards Bar Reservoir
Recreators at New Bullards Bar Reservoir can now enjoy easier access in and out of Emerald Cove Marina, thanks to a new gate placed last week. The upgraded gate is 10 feet wider than the previous gate and also secures the floating barrier that runs across the water to keep recreators at a safe distance from the dam. Fun fact: the gate was designed by one of our former summer interns! [Read more]

Quagga and Zebra mussels are highly invasive species that pose a serious threat to our waterways. If not properly cleaned, transported and trailered, boats, kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and other watercraft can transport these mussels between watersheds and cause significant damage to our freshwater ecosystems, fisheries, and water supply and hydropower generation facilities.
Help prevent the introduction and infestation of these invasive mussels by self-inspecting all watercraft before launching at New Bullards Bar Reservoir, Lake Francis and any other waterbody in the Yuba River watershed to ensure that all vessels are cleaned, drained and dry. [Learn more]
