A message from Yuba Water General Manager Willie Whittlesey

Greetings,
It’s been an incredible year so far for Yuba Water Agency. Our water supply is in fantastic shape. Our hydropower generation continues to bring in revenue that benefits Yuba County in really important ways. But probably the biggest news so far this year is that we recently joined Governor Newsom and state and federal officials to announce plans for a comprehensive restoration plan that includes a new channel resembling a natural river that salmon, steelhead, sturgeon and lamprey can follow to get around the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Daguerre Point Dam to reach more than 10 miles of healthy spawning habitat in the lower Yuba River. This agreement will also help safeguard our water supply for decades.
Since the announcement, we’ve continued to work on finalizing the settlement agreement. And we are already working on a more detailed design of the fishway, moving the permitting process forward and meeting with stakeholders to make sure the project is a success.
It is a seriously exciting time for us and for Yuba County. I hope you’ll continue reading to learn more about all the good things in the works.
Wishing you and yours a safe and relaxing summer.
Willie Whittlesey Yuba Water General Manager
