NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the California Water Quality Monitoring Council will meet to discuss issues relating to its responsibilities pursuant to California Water Code Section 13181.
BACKGROUND
The California Water Quality Monitoring Council (Monitoring Council) was established by California Water Code Section 13181 (CWC 13181) which requires the boards, departments and offices within the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) and the California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) to integrate and coordinate their water quality and related ecosystem monitoring, assessment, and reporting.
Monitoring Council Members include representatives from Cal/EPA, the Natural Resources Agency, drinking water, public health, stormwater, publicly owned treatment works, agriculture, citizen monitoring groups, the public, the scientific community, the academic community, and water supply. The Monitoring Council is also required to consult with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, whose representative attends Monitoring Council meetings in a non-voting capacity.
MEETING PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this meeting is for the Monitoring Council to plan further implementation of their comprehensive monitoring program strategy and to develop additional recommendations to the CalEPA and CNRA Secretaries. Meeting topics will include:
- Public Forum: opportunity for stakeholders to address items not on the agenda.
- Monitoring Council Member updates.
- New My Water Quality Webpages roll out and review.
